Flicka Dream Catcher

Under Bert Felton, Dream Catcher was kept on the Oakland Estuary and sailed on San Francisco Bay. She was one of the boats behind the Bay area's Flicka rendezvous: in Flicka Friends #34 (Spring 2005) Bert described motoring over to Angel Island on the Friday with Hotspur to hold moorings for the boats arriving next day, and five Flickas came in over that weekend — a record for the group's third annual gathering.

The following summer she went inland. Flicka Friends #41 (Winter 2006) carries Bert Felton and Scott Grometer's account of an eight-day cruise of the Sacramento Delta, leaving Alameda on 9 July 2006, anchoring the first night off the old Chinese shrimping camp at China Camp on San Pablo Bay, and then riding a favourable tide through the Carquinez Straits. They anchored inside Franks Tract on a 22 lb Bruce and forty feet of chain in eleven feet of water with 25 knots howling in the rigging, worked their way east through the drawbridges, and finally lay bow-to a tree in a quiet slough for three days of hiking, blackberries and blue herons. She sailed all but half an hour of the eighty-odd miles out, and motored much of the way home from 14 July.
